MATERIA -- a year-long workshop on contemporary critical studies that decenter the human -- begins its series on animal studies with a discussion of selections from Derrida's L'Animal que donc je suis (The Animal That Therefore I Am), from Donna Haraway’s When Species Meet, and, for any Spanish readers, from Ciro Alegría’s Los perros hambrientos.
