The Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco (MoAD) will host a free screening of the James Baldwin film, I Am Not Your Negro, as envisioned by filmmaker Raoul Peck.
I Am Not Your Negro is an American documentary film released in 2016. Based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript Remember This House and narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, the film explores the history of race relations in the United States through Baldwin's reminiscences of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.
The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People's Choice Award in the documentary category. It was picked up for theatrical distribution by Magnolia Pictures.
